A Lab left unmonitored is a lab in danger!
It is a very meticulous job to stay alert and keep in check the temperatures, light intensity and incubator functions from the laboratory. If it exceeds and goes out of range, it will lead to months of data loss and can contaminate the live samples from the biology research labs. To make small experiments easier and maintain temperatures within the laboratories, The Instrumentation and IT teams at NCBS have designed advanced, Artificial Intelligence-based monitoring systems that eliminate the risk of human error.
They have developed many in-house technologies:
1. Thermometry- Remote Temperature Monitoring System.
A logged-in system that keeps the laboratory machines' temperature in check. It notifies through emails when the temperature goes out of range. Thermometry also records the data for upto an year, minimising human errors.
2. Lux Meter with Data Logging System- Long-term light monitoring.
A reliable light monitoring system that records light intensity readings for one month, which helps keep in check the subjects' (animals & plants) needs and safety.
3. Automated H&E Breast Histopathology Slide Classifications ( AI-based)
This identifies whether the biopsy slides are cancerous or non-cancerous using Artificial Intelligence. The system takes images directly from the microscope and it can perform analysis offline, maintaining data privacy.
4. CO2 & Temperature monitoring & alarm system for CO2 Incubators.
Grow and keep the living cells safe with the help of a system that monitors CO2 & Temperatures inside the incubator. It records temperatures & also alarms by sending a notification before specimens are affected due to any sudden changes.
5. Microscope stage warmer- Stable conditions for live-cell imaging
A micro-scope stage warmer keeps cells warm for live imaging, maintaining temperatures from room temperature up to 60 °C over a 70 × 70 mm area, and it can be installed in any microscope.
These thoughtful innovations by the Instrumentation and IT teams provide immense support the research ecosystem at NCBS.
