Gender in/of Science: Feminist Conversations Part 2

Welcome to Gender In/Of Science: Feminist Conversations Part 2, conceptualised by Prof. Gita Chadha, Sociologist and Obaid Siddiqi Chair 2023-24 at the National Centre for Biological Sciences, Bengaluru, India. In this series, across seven episodes, we engage with six male faculty members at NCBS in conversations about the figure of the ‘man of science’.

Upinder Bhalla’s work focuses on neuronal and synaptic signalling in memory and olfactory coding using both computational and experimental methods. Bhalla is an elected fellow of the Indian Academy of Sciences and the Indian National Science Academy. He earned his PhD from the California Institute of Technology in 1993 and conducted postdoctoral research at Mount Sinai School of Medicine. Bhalla joined NCBS in 1996, where he became a professor in 2008.
