Dr John Kuriyan elected to the National Academy of Medicine

We are proud to announce the election of Dr John Kuriyan (University of California, Berkeley, USA) to the prestigious National Academy of Medicine. The National Academy of Medicine is an independent organization of eminent professionals from diverse fields including health and medicine; the natural, social, and behavioural sciences; and beyond.

Dr John Kuriyan is a longstanding member of the management board at the National Centre for Biological Sciences. He has been recognized for his pioneering contributions to understanding the regulation of eukaryotic cell signaling by proteins such as Src-family kinases, and for determining the structural and molecular origin of the specificity of the first precision medicine, the cancer drug Gleevec.

One among 75 newly elected members, his election to the academy is considered as one of the highest honours in the discipline of health and medicine. It commends individuals who have demonstrated outstanding professional achievement and commitment to service.
