Research conducted by scientists from Wildlife Conservation Society – India Program (WCS-India Program), National Centre for Biological Sciences, Ashoka Trust for Research in Ecology and the Environment (ATREE), and Foundation for Ecological Research Advocacy and Learning (FERAL) - have revealed that small hydropower projects (SHPs) have significantly affected river flows and water quality in Western Ghats region.
