Recognition for research article on Odorant Binding Proteins

There is probably no single topic of research that straddles as many NCBS teams as olfaction. Despite seeming the most mysterious of our senses, the sense of smell is actually the simplest sensory system to study, and NCBS teams try to understand it from every angle. At the molecular end of the spectrum, Dr R. Sowdhamini’s group has been studying the structure of the proteins that bind odorous chemicals and initiate the sensation of smell. Her collaborative work with Dr. R. Archunan’s group of Pheromone Technology Centre, Bharathidasan University recently led to an article that was picked as a “new hot paper” by BMC Bioinformatics, an international journal for biological sciences.
