NCBS welcomes new faculty – Hiyaa Ghosh
NCBS is pleased to welcome Hiyaa Ghosh as faculty.
Hiyaa received her doctoral degree from the University of Pittsburgh, School of Medicine, USA. She later joined Columbia University Medical Center, New York, USA, for her postdoctoral studies, where she focused on the transcriptional regulation of immune cell development.
Her studies contributed significantly to the understanding of plasmacytoid dendritic cell (pDC) development and maintenance. During her postdoctoral studies she was awarded the prestigious Scholar's award from the American Society of Hematology for her investigations in pDC biology. After finishing her postdoctoral studies she spent a brief tenure in the Neuroscience department at Albert Einstein College of Medicine, New York, USA as a fellow in the Neural Stem Cell program under Prof. Jean Hebert. There her work focused on two diverse areas of research; cortical neuron regeneration and signaling pathways in adult neurogenesis.
At NCBS, Hiyaa plans to use her interdisciplinary experience in molecular biology, immunology and neuroscience to understand some fundamental cellular processes in the adult brain from the morphological and neuro-immune perspective.
