I'm shocked to happen upon this piece of very sad news. I deeply regret not having met him in my recent visit. I hope his family and close friends find the strength to carry on.
As I read the several anecdotes and tributes coming from so many spread across the globe, people who have known him and cherished their time with him, I realize how lucky I have been for the chance I was given to work in his lab and get a peek at how this man thought about science.
I owe so much to him, and cannot thank him enough. I'm certain that his spirit will live on in the science that traces its existence back to him and his ideas.
