Although I never had an opportunity to interact with Prof Obaid Siddiqui, I am well aware with his name from my BSc/MSc times at Aligarh Muslim University. He was one of few people who introduced India to molecular biology. He made seminal contribution in the area of neurobiology (of Drosophila). His sad demise is huge loss to scientific community both at India as well as international level. He will always be remembered for his outstanding scientific contribution. May his soul rest in peace, Amen!
