Although Veronica and I never met, we had many conversations on the phone when she would ask me for updates about her brother Edwin who was gravely ill in Nairobi, Kenya at the time. Through our regular correspondence, I got to know her caring personality and I would do my best to communicate her messages to her brother. When Edwin passed away 7 years ago, Veronica's family honored me by calling me a "Rodrigues" and so I now join the rest of the family in grieving for our departed sister.
